 Our Strategies

The Foundation released an overarching 5 year strategy in 2022, which was monitored every quarter. Evaluation of our progress in quarter 1 of 2024 showed that we were behind target to achieve some of our 5 year goals, particularly our Satellite Hubs.

In light of this, we have removed our strategy and are developing a new one. In August 2024 our CEO, Hugo Sugg, made the following public statement:

"Recently, we have come up against a great challenge at the Cardon Banfield Foundation. Sophie has left and halfway into our 5 year strategy I have realised it’s not only unachievable, but it’s unrealistic too… So I’m ripping it up, scrapping our targets, binning some of our teams and shaking things up.

Our efforts were often spread very far apart and we got internal feedback that a lack of team cohesion proved a big issue. Whilst it’s easy to bury your head and try move forward because you think you know best, it’s harder but more fruitful if you open yourself up to critical feedback then act on it.

Volunteers have been redeployed from the departments we’re scrapping or scaling back, the invaluable work they have done remains and it is helping to inform where we are heading.

We have a fantastic opportunity as an organisation to really lift open the bonnet and rearrange the engine and crucial parts. It is with this ‘charitable MOT’ that I introduce you to our new Operations Director, Moybul Ali.

Moybul is coming into the team with a fresh set of eyes on the organisation and our work more widely. Bringing with him his personal experience of homelessness in the broken system, Moybul will assist me in creating our new plan moving forward and work in partnership to make us more effective in our mission of responding to homelessness.

Together, Moybul and I are taking a good few steps back and thrashing out some ideas. In the few days I have worked with him, I have seen the incredible passion, but also the friendly critique that the Foundation needs to be better.

Over the coming weeks and months Moybul, myself and the volunteers will be working out where we go from here.

I already know it won’t be easy, but it’ll be worth it. It’s time to step up our work, it’s time to better Respond to Homelessness."
