Today, our Research department released some shocking statistics. Between 2017 and 2021, only 63 deaths, a shocking 2.45% were reviewed through a Safeguarding Board.
Given that Homeless Link said that all deaths should go to a review, if not an official SAR, it's clear responsible organisations have not met this requirement.
We will be investigating why this is further through a public campaign launching soon.
Hugo Sugg, Chief Executive, said:
"The lack of reviewing deaths of rough sleepers is a stain on our society and the homeless sector as a whole. Cardon Banfield Foundation call on tougher regulations for investigating deaths of the most vulnerable in our country.
We should not and can not let these people die in vain."
